HOW TO SURVIVE THE UOC SNOW MEGA-TRIP

1. Stock up on goods

Ski towns are pricey, so make sure you bring some cheap student food or booze from home or stock up at the supermarket during the coach journey. Your bank account will thank you for this.

We always recommend taking food up on the hill with you for lunch. The prices get worse the higher you go!

2. Fancy dress

Every night (other than the Headline DJ night) we will be dressing up. So make sure you get some cheap fancy dress before we go. Trust us you don't want to be the only one not dressed up.

Plus, it helps us find anyone who's gotten seperated as you're easy to spot.

Don't forget to wear your onsie on the coach either!

P.S. It's not a great idea to dress too smart in ski towns, no one cares and your clothes will probably get trashed anyway.

3. Find a dealer

Yes, skiing is the best hangover cure, but early each morning your head will hurt. Ski town parties are like nothing you've ever experienced. You WILL need pain killers, energy things and vitamin tablets to get you through.

4. Play it safe

Don't be 'that person' who was so desperate to impress the student crowd that they broke their leg on the first day. We recommend avoiding off-piste or black runs for the first day.

5. Rubber up

Yup. Take condoms. Ski resorts are small towns and students are a dirty bunch so unless you want some unpronounceable STD, play it smart kid.

6. Sleep

You won't get much sleep in resort. With long nights and early mornings ahead, make sure you get as much sleep as you can on the coach journey. Your body needs to be prepared.

You've got 24hrs on the coach, so bring a DVD along and we can watch it along the way!

7. Lotion up

We get this every year. Someone always claims 'they don't burn'. You will be a tomato and wrinklier than a puppy Shar-Peis.

So don't be stupid about it, whack on the lotion before you leave in the morning and at lunch, we all do it. Lip salve and aftersun too, its good for the skin.

8. Dress up warm

Yes, you can get warm skiing hard, but you're going to have a rubbish day if you've got soggy sleeves and your teeth are chattering everytime you get on the chair lift.

Make sure you bring some thermals, a hat and a decent pair of gloves.

9. Helmet

We're not going to bang on about this one, you're all adults.

Helmets aren't mandatory for the trip but they're clearly recommened...

Sunglasses and goggles are also very important. Sun blindness takes less than a day to occur without UV protection for your eyes when in the mountains.

10. Finally, be outgoing!

You'll get way more from the trip if you're willing to go meet new people and the friends you make on the ski trip will likely end up being a friend for life. If you're in a room of two make sure you both get out to bigger groups and socialise, both on and off the hill. We're all students who love the white stuff so you've got no excuses!

Lets show Val T what UOC SNOW are made of.

Overall, it's all about having fun on the slopes - like these guys!
