TRIPS

Each year, UoC Snow holds the annual MEGA-trip, fortnightly Chill Factore trips for freestyle, race training and beginner lessons and then there is the opportunity for all UoC Snow members to go to the annual Ski & Snowboard Show in early October. Finally, there is the option for members to go to Scotland during the first weeks break of Easter for our annual MINI-trip. Find detail on each of the trips below:

Christmas trip

Each year, UoC Snow embarks on our annual ski trip where all ski, board and snow lovers are welcome, no matter what your standard! We've been all over the alps, and each year we try and go somewhere new and exciting for our budding adventurers. Famous not only for the snow, our trips encorporate big night life and each year our fancy dress, games and community feel of the groups that go on the MEGA-trip seem to get better and better each year.

The location of our next trip will be decided around Easter time of each year, so keep an eye on this page over summer for any announcments for next years trip.

Ski and Snowboard Show

Some years, instead of the usual ski store lock-in, we are travel to Manchesters annual Ski & Snowboard show! The main reason we're going here is for the stalls. Every major snowsports brand will be there, offering discounts on all new season gear! It is a great opportunity for people to gear-up for the trip or to learn more about the sports.

If you weren't interested in buying anything as you've already got all your own kit, don't fret, as the event not pnly has an indoor dry slope with lessons available, but you'll also receive your tickets worth of freebies, information, future offers, free ice skating and curling and opportunities to get involved with snowsports orientated activites!

This really will be a great opportunity for all UoC Snow members and its only £9! At this stage we're uncertain on the mode of transport but we're hoping there will be enough of us to hire a coach which may mean we charge a bit more for the trip... but with that we are hoping the larger group will reduce our ticket prices to balance this out.

Chill Factore Trips

We are hopefully going to be having trips to Chill Factore every fortnight on any spare days we find fits our timetables well.  These will be run as additional trips to the regular training sessions we run bi-weekly, just to keep your taste buds tingling for the white stuff.

Costs of Chill Factore trips will vary throughout the year, but it most likely going to cost £15 for a 2 hour skiing session. Included in the cost is rentals of skis, boots, poles, snowboards, and helmets. All you'll need is some appropriate leg wear, a jumper or two and a pair of gloves!

Taster sessions

Taster sessions are essential for any society but what makes ours better is that we are snowsports. If you're a newbie, what an exciting new sport and skill to learn and for the more experienced, a great opportunity to devlop these skills or simply show off what you're made of to the other members of UoC Snow.

Taster sessions will run both after Freshers week at the start of the year and after Christmas at the start of the 2nd term. We hope lots of new faces will turn up for the trip as we hope to expand not only the society, but the sport itself. The sessions will most likely be held at a nearby dry slope for a cost of £5 for a basic pass, with options for lessons extra to this cost. Some taster sessions may also be held at Chill Factore where you will find real snow! Although, the cost of Chill Factore taster sessions may be greater than the dry slope.

Easter trip

Obvisouly, the little brother of the annual Christmas, this trip offers an interesting opportinty for UOC Snow Members to get their last snow fix of the season. The trip itself is not garaunteed and depends heavily on the successful intake of members and people attending the Christmas trip.

More often than not, we attend the BUSC organised (and BUCS point awarding) 'Main Event', which is an event in the Alps that is more than just your average ski trip. Uni teams will compete in Giant Slalom on real snow. Oh yea, when we do go, it's a big trip!
